• Postseason newcomers dominated at the plate as the Indians took Game 1 of their ALDS against the Red Sox, 5-4. (Game 2: Friday at 4:30 p.m. ET, TBS). Three Red Sox — Andrew Benintendi, Sandy Leon and Brock Holt — homered in their postseason debut. Two Indians — Roberto Perez and Francisco Lindor — did as well. This contest marked the first in postseason history to see five players homer in their first postseason game.
