Al’LonzoColeman The Regular Season in Korisliiga just started. The most crucial game of the last round was a loss of KTP-Basket (0-1) on the court of Salon Vilpas on Wednesday night. Salon Vilpas’ coach Joonas Iisalo felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Jamaica-American power forward Sherman Gay (201-82, college: Loyola Mary) produced 19 points and 5 rebounds for lost side. Salon Vilpas is looking forward to face Tampereen Pyrinto (#10) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. KTP-Basket will have a break next round. Another exciting game was between Helsinki Seagulls and BC Nokia where Helsinki Seagulls (1-0) beat BC Nokia (0-1) on the road 83-76. Worth to mention a great performance of the former international Carl Lindbom (206-91) who helped to win the game recording a double-double by scoring 24 points and 12 rebounds. Raymond Cowels III contributed with 18 points and 13 rebounds for the winners. American center Kwame Alexander (201-90, college: CS San Bernar.) answered with 10 points, 9 rebounds and 4 blocks for BC Nokia. Both teams do not play next round, which will be an opportunity for some rest. The game with biggest result difference took place in Uusikaupunki. Local UU-Korihait (1-0) outscored Lapuan Korikobrat (0-1) 85-63 on Wednesday night. The game was dominated by American players. Dominique Lee stepped up and scored 23 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Coach Jarno Nikula’s team controlled all game and the coach could let to play 10 players and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side Mario Edwards responded with 13 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists. UU-Korihait will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game.
