The road to Ford Championship Weekend at Homestead-Miami Speedway will carry teams through Concord, N.C., this week with 2,477.58 “Miles2Miami” remaining in the 2016 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
Heading into Saturday night’s Bank of America 500 at Charlotte Motor Speedway, the question on the minds of all but one driver is, “How do we slow Martin Truex Jr. down?”
He heads into the second round of the post-season as the hottest driver on The Chase Grid with two wins in the first three races of this year’s title series – at Chicagoland Speedway and Dover International Speedway.
“It’s been a fairy-tale season,” said Truex, who entered the Chase as the No. 6 seed and has now totaled four wins in 2016. “But no matter how well we’ve raced lately, 12 drivers – all capable of winning the championship – start the second round with the same amount of points. It would be non-productive to look in the rear-view mirror or look past this weekend’s race.”
