Golden Goggles Ahoy For Michael Phelps – Up For 5 Honours – Ledecky, King, Ervin & Co

Michael Phelps, five golds in six medals the curtain-closing to his Olympic career in Rio back in August, has earned five nominations for the 2016 USA Swimming Golden Goggle Awards.
The event, to be staged on Monday, November 21 in New York City, will also see a host of other leading names, including the outstanding swimmer of the year on gold medal and world-record count, Katie Ledecky, step up for honours.
Among the nominees are Lilly King, for Breakout Performer of the Year and Female Race of the Year as Olympic 100m breaststroke champion and an athlete unafraid to speak her mind about the drag and drop of those who arrived to race in Rio towing doping records.
Phelps’s mentor Bob Bowman and Ledecky’s coach Bruce Gemmell are among those nominated for coach of the year, while Anthony Ervin, the oldest Olympic champion in history, is up for the perseverance award.
