News of the pick of the action from Nottingham where a pair of colts with Group One aspirations were unleashed.

David Menuisier faces a headache of the positive kind after Contrapposto enhanced his chances of an outing in the Racing Post Trophy with a clear-cut success at Nottingham.

Menuisier said: “He ran really well in the Convivial at York. Instead of putting a gun to his head and running him quickly, I gave him plenty of time off to strengthen up as ultimately he will be better next year.

“He was a little bit fresh but I said to Martin to let him enjoy himself and get him into his stride. Without being cheeky to the others I think it was just a nice piece of work today.
