Francona undecided on Gomes for ALDS

CLEVELAND — As the baseball soared off Yan Gomes’ bat on Sunday, Indians team president Chris Antonetti watched with awe. After everything Gomes had gone through this season, and following a comeback that was as unpredictable as it was incredible, the catcher belted a home run in his first at-bat back with the team.
“It gave me chills,” Antonetti said during Tuesday’s workout at Progressive Field.

Antonetti sent Gomes a text on Sunday to congratulate the catcher for all the work that went into that special moment. What Antonetti and manager Terry Francona need to discuss now is whether they will sit down with Gomes to inform him that he has made the roster for the American League Division Series against Boston.
