PiotrNiedzwiedzki There were only 2 rounds played so far and it’s still very beginning of the Regular Season in 2Liga. The round was exceptionally exciting as four games ended with a tiny margin. There was no lack of excitement in the last round games. The round ended with change at the leadership position, extra overtimes, favorites losing the games and games ending by tiny margin.The most important game of round 2 took place in Walbrzych of Group D where Gornik crushed Gimbasket WRC (1-1) 84-55 on Saturday night. The game without a history. Gornik led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to Gimbasket WRC’s 20. They outrebounded Gimbasket WRC 53-28 including a 15-4 advantage in offensive rebounds. Gornik looked well-organized offensively handing out 24 assists. The former international center Piotr Niedzwiedzki (210-93) had a double-double by scoring 21 points and 20 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Marcin Wrobel (200-87) chipped in 16 points and 7 rebounds during the contest. Forward Przemyslaw Gworek (195-90) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 11 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Gimbasket WRC will play next round against Koscian trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Gornik will try to continue on its current victory against Kalisz on the road. Asseco II defeated Tarnovia in Gdynia 93-84. Guard Mariusz Konopatzki (192-96) notched a triple-double by scoring 29 points, 14 rebounds, 12 assists and 6 steals to lead the effort and Mateusz Itrich supported him with 24 points and 14 rebounds. Even 16 points and 8 rebounds by power forward Bartlomiej Pawlak (200-95) did not help to save the game for Tarnovia. Tarnovia’s coach Tomasz Eichert rotated eleven players in this game, but that didn’t help. Tarnovia will play next round against Goleniow trying to get back on the winning streak. Asseco II will try to continue on its current victory against Gniezno on the road. AZS PP (1-1) recorded a loss on the court of AZS UMK Torun on Sunday night. Visitors were defeated by AZS UMK Torun 77-63. The best player for the winners was Radoslaw Plebanek who scored 19 points, 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Patryk Spojda produced 20 points for the guests. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. AZS UMK Torun will meet Suchy Las (#10) in the next round where they are favorite. AZS PP will play against AZS PGd (#2) and hope to win that game. And what about another game where KK Warszawa (#3) beat Tur Bielsk Pdl. 75-64 on the road. Michal Wojtynski orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points. KK Warszawa’s coach Andrzej Kierlewicz allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. KK Warszawa’s next round opponent will be Start Lublin II (#13) at home which should be an easy win for them. Tur Bielsk Pdl. will play against LKS MG13 Lodz (#10) and hope to win that game. Very important is a road loss of AZS PCz (1-1) against Polonia Bytom (2-0) on Saturday night. Visiting AZS PCz was crushed by Polonia Bytom in Bytom 90-57. Grzegorz Zadecki scored 17 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists to lead the charge for the winners. AZS PCz’s coach Dariusz Szynkiel gave up on the game allowing to play eleven players seeing no chance for a win. Polonia Bytom will face Wisla Krakow (#12) on the road in the next round which should be another easy win for them. AZS PCz will play against AZS KU PO (#1) and hope to win that game. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. AZS UMK Torun dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to AZS PP’s 22. AZS UMK Torun forced 20 AZS PP turnovers and outrebounded them 46-31 including 17 on the offensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists.
