Manfred: Red Sox had option to rescind Pomeranz trade

BOSTON — Commissioner Rob Manfred, at Fenway Park on Sunday for David Ortiz’s regular-season finale, said that the Red Sox had the option of rescinding the July 14 trade that sent left-handed starting pitcher Drew Pomeranz from San Diego to Boston.
Last month, Padres general manager A.J. Preller was suspended 30 days by Major League Baseball for not fully disclosing Pomeranz’s medical records prior to the trade with the Red Sox.
In the trade, the Red Sox dealt top pitching prospect Anderson Espinoza.
