Alex Oliveira Says Insult at Weigh-Ins Led to Post-Fight Altercation with Will Brooks

Post-fight drama is becoming the norm at UFC events in recent weeks.Following his third-round technical knockout victory over Will Brooks at UFC Fight Night Portland, Alex Oliveira gestured and yelled at his fallen opponent. Brooks responded by getting to his feet and hurling his mouthpiece at the Brazilian. The altercation went no further, however, as referee Herb Dean stepped in to separate the fighters. The exchange stemmed from Oliveira missing weight on Friday by 5.5 pounds. The Brazilian was clearly the larger man in the bout, and he more than held his own against the wrestling-minded Brooks in the clinch and on the mat before putting away “Ill Will” with ground-and-pound 3:30 into round three. “He’s a ranked fighter; it’s a great victory for me,” Oliveira said. “I’m sorry, he insulted me yesterday.
