Jimmie Johnson needs to return to form at Dover International Speedway to keep his championship hopes heading in the right direction. Johnson comes into Sunday’s Citizen Soldier 400 at Dover eighth in the standings but only 13 from the cut-off mark. He’s a 10-time winner at the track and No. 11 on Sunday would come at a perfect time. “I love being here,” Johnson said Friday ahead of practice but before rain washed out qualifying. “I think it’s going to be a tricky day on the track. The track will be very green, very fast; and then these winds are definitely going to give us a hard time on the race course.” While Johnson is optimistic about his chances for a good performance Sunday and has a stellar record at the one-mile concrete track, he’s taking nothing for granted.
