Giants shrug off Cardinals’ disputed victory

SAN FRANCISCO — The Giants didn’t seem to dwell over the St. Louis Cardinals’ controversial 4-3 victory over Cincinnati on Thursday that kept them a game behind San Francisco in the National League Wild Card race.
Television replays showed that Yadier Molina’s game-winning hit should have been ruled a ground-rule double that would have kept Matt Carpenter on third base. Instead, Carpenter scored the winning run, which stuck when the Reds did not request a review. The Giants therefore had to win to stay ahead of St. Louis, and did so with a 7-2 decision over Colorado.
