J.J. Watt Injury Update: Texans Star Undergoes Season-Ending Back Surgery
- Updated: September 30, 2016
Houston Texans star J.J. Watt underwent surgery Thursday to repair a herniated disk in his back, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported.
John McClain of the Houston Chronicle confirmed Schefter’s report, adding the procedure has ended the defensive end’s season.

The three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year reinjured his back during Week 3’s game against the New England Patriots. The team placed him on the injured reserve listWednesday, which ensured he would miss an NFL game for the first time since being drafted 11th overall in 2011.
