Quintana ends 2016 with quality start in loss

CHICAGO — Chris Archer entered and exited Thursday night’s series finale against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field with the same 19 losses, as the Rays salvaged the final of four games in Chicago with a 5-3 victory.
Archer passed 200 innings for the season by throwing 6 2/3 innings, but lost a sub-4.00 ERA for by walking Alex Avila with two outs in the seventh and then yielding Carlos Sanchez’s line drive two-run homer. The defeat ended any chance for the White Sox to finish over .500, giving them 82 losses, meaning they have finished the last four seasons under .500.
