Hellickson exits with right knee sprain

ATLANTA — Jeremy Hellickson’s first and possibly only season with the Phillies had to be considered a success.
But it ended on a sour note in the fourth inning on Thursday night against the Braves at Turner Field. With the Phillies leading 1-0, Hellickson had just struck out Dansby Swanson on a 1-2 changeup for the first out, when he circled the mound and waved his glove at Phillies head athletic trainer Scott Sheridan, summoning him to the mound. After a brief visit, Hellickson and Sheridan walked off the field together.
Hellickson left the game with a right knee sprain, the club later announced. Colton Murray replaced him on the mound.
Hellickson, who missed one turn in the rotation in August because of a back issue, allowed one hit and struck out four in 3 1/3 innings. He finishes the season 12-10 with a 3.71 ERA. He made a …
