‘Miles2Miami’ … Dover

The road to Ford Championship Weekend leads NASCAR teams to Dover International Speedway this week, with 2,877.58 “Miles2Miami” remaining in the 2016 Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.
Sunday’s Citizen Soldier 400 is the final race of the opening round. The 16-driver Chase Grid will be trimmed to the top 12 when the checkered flag flies. Points will be reset and those dozen title hopefuls will open the Round of 12 on Oct. 8 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
A number of drivers are in a tight spot as they try to move on in the Chase. The four competitors currently below the cutoff line are Jamie McMurray, Austin Dillon, Tony Stewart and Chris Buescher.
Kyle Larson holds the final transfer spot by five points over Chip Ganassi Racing teammate McMurray and Dillon. Stewart (-11) and rookie Chris Buescher (-30) bring up the rear.
“We need to stay out of trouble, which isn’t always easy at Dover,” said Buescher, the underdog Front Row Motorsports driver making his first Chase appearance. “We’ll try and get our best finish and hopefully, it’ll be enough to move on in the Chase.”
