John Henry Comments on Liverpool, Anfield Expansion Plans, Jurgen Klopp, More

Liverpool owner John Henry has said supporters have convinced the club to curb plans to continue Anfield’s redevelopment. Plus, the Reds figurehead has praised the early work of manager Jurgen Klopp following the club’s early success this season.

Anfield’s Main Stand expansion was recently completed and increased the capacity to 54,000, but Henry’s plans to renovate the Anfield Road stand have now been delayed in response to fans’ price outcry.

Per the Associated Press (h/t Sky Sports), the Fenway Sports Group (FSG) figurehead said: “I don’t know if there is a next step because ticket prices are an issue in England. That may foreclose further expansion. We’ll have to see.”

Jay McKenna serves as Chair for the Liverpool supporters union Spirit of Shankly, and he questioned the validity of Henry’s claims that fan reaction was the true reason behind the delays:
