Gray on the fast track to become a true ace

SAN FRANCISCO — Rockies rookie right-handed pitcher Jon Gray’s start Thursday night at AT&T Park serves as a chance to hurt the Giants’ postseason hopes, but he has too much on his mind to care about that.
“There are a lot of things I’m focused on before the season is over,” said Gray, who will make his 29th and final start of the season. “I really want to have good fastball command tomorrow. If I can locate that, I know the other pitches will be effective. That’s what I did in my side this week, just getting in line, commanding both sides of the plate so guys won’t be able to sit one side or the other.”
