Freeman’s hit streak at 29, ties longest in ’16

ATLANTA — Freddie Freeman matched Major League Baseball’s longest hitting streak of the season when he ended Jerad Eickhoff’s perfect game bid with a home run during the fourth inning of Tuesday night’s game against the Phillies at Turner Field.
Freeman’s two-out solo shot extended his hitting streak to 29 games, which is tied with Red Sox outfielder Jackie Bradley for the longest streak recorded this season. The Braves first baseman has also reached safely in 45 consecutive games, which also stands as MLB’s longest active streak.
