Matz to have bone spur surgery; season over

MIAMI — Mets left-handed starter Steven Matz will undergo season-ending surgery next week at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York to remove a bone spur from his left elbow, the team announced before Tuesday’s game against the Marlins. The club expects Matz to be healthy by Spring Training 2017.
