Olympic champs Ludwig and Walkenhorst aiming for new heights

Hamburg, Germany, September 27, 2016 – Laura Ludwig and Kira Walkenhorst may have enjoyed the most spectacular of years in 2016, but they have already begun planning a successful defence of their Olympic title at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
This year the pair became the first European women’s team to win Olympic gold when they triumphed at the Rio de Janeiro 2016 Olympic Games. It capped a year in which they played some breath-taking beach volleyball and beat Brazil’s Agatha Bednarczuk and Barbara Seixas in the final at Copacabana Beach.
Earlier in the year they won their second CEV European Championships together and then less than a month later they headed to Toronto for the FIVB World Tour Finals and added yet another gold to their collection. Just for good measure they won four golds on the 2016 …
