Gurriel honors Fernandez, hangs No. 16 jersey

HOUSTON — Astros infielder Yulieski Gurriel, a Cuban who was dealing with the sudden death of Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, hung an Astros jersey with Fernandez’s name and No. 16 in the dugout during Monday’s game against the Mariners to honor his fellow countryman.
Gurriel, who knew Fernandez and whose younger brother, Lourdes, played with him, had the jersey hanging in his locker Monday before it was moved to the dugout for the game. Several players touched it on their way to the …
