The most important game of round 2 took place in Prienai where Vytautas crushed Dzukija (1-1) 79-58 on Sunday night. The hosts trailed by 4 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 7-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 79-58. Vytautas dominated on the defensive end, holding Dzukija to just 5 points in fourth quarter. Forward Saulius Kulvietis (206-91) scored 11 points to lead the charge for the winners and forward Arturas Valeika (207-85, college: Midland CC) chipped in 12 points during the contest. Russian center Anatoly Kashirov (215-87) responded with 17 points and 5 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Dzukija will have a break next week, which should allow them to rest. Vytautas will try to continue on its current victory against Nevezis in Kedainiai. Lietkabelis defeated Nevezis in Panevezys 85-81. The former international center Ksistof Lavrinovic (209-79) notched 20 points to lead the effort and Zygimantas Skucas supported him with 12 points. Lietkabelis’ coach Kazys Maksvytis allowed to play the deep bench players in such tough game. Even 15 points and 7 rebounds by Serbian forward Ivan Smiljanic (199-89, agency: Octagon Europe) did not help to save the game for Nevezis. Nevezis will play next round against strong Vytautas trying to get back on the winning streak. Lietkabelis will try to continue on its current victory against Lietuvos rytas at Vilnius. Juventus (1-1) recorded a loss in Kaunas on Saturday night. Visitors were rolled over by Zalgiris (1-1) 90-70. The best player for the winners was Kevin Pangos who scored 22 points.
