Red Sox hurlers enjoy history-making K-day

A combination of five Red Sox pitchers made history Sunday, striking out 23 batters in Boston’s 3-2 extra-inning win over the Rays while breaking a couple of records along the way.
It began with starter Eduardo Rodriguez, who was electric over his 5 1/3 innings at Tropicana Field. Rodriguez became the first Red Sox pitcher to record 13 strikeouts in a game since David Price struck out 14 on April 26. Rodriguez was also the first Red Sox pitcher at the age of 23 or younger to record at least 13 strikeouts in a game since Roger Clemens tossed his record 20-strikeout game at age 23 in 1986.
