Contrite Jeffress rejoins Rangers

OAKLAND — Reliever Jeremy Jeffress is back with the Rangers after a 22-day stay in a Houston rehabilitation clinic.
Jeffress has been on the restricted list after being arrested on Aug. 26 in Dallas for suspicion of driving while intoxicated. He was cleared to return by Major League Baseball and the Players Association.
“I’m glad to be back,” Jeffress said. “When I walked into that clubhouse, it was a great feeling.”
Jeffress said he wanted to apologize to teammates, fans and Major League Baseball for what happened.
“I made a big mistake,” Jeffress said. “I regret it daily, from the bottom of my heart. I’m moving forward. I’m still sick and I’m still working on that. But I am a better and wiser person.”
Jeffress addressed his teammates in a closed-door meeting before batting practice.
