Mariners hire director of baseball operations

MINNEAPOLIS — Justin Hollander, the current director of player personnel with the Angels, has been hired as the Mariners’ director of baseball operations, the club announced Friday.
Hollander, 37, has spent the past nine seasons in the Angels’ front office and worked the previous four years with Mariners general manager Jerry Dipoto.
He replaces Caleb Peiffer, who has been in the Mariners’ baseball operations department since 2009, including the last four as director. Peiffer is resigning to pursue law school at UCLA this fall.
