ZygimantasJanavicius The Regular Season in LKL just started. One of the interesting games of the last round was a loss of Nevezis (0-1) in Vilnius on Thursday night. Visitors were rolled over by Lietuvos rytas (1-0) 89-70. The game without a history. Lietuvos rytas led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Lietuvos rytas outrebounded Nevezis 36-24 including 23 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 21 assists. Worth to mention a great performance of American-Polish guard David Logan (185-82, college: Indianapolis) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 7 assists. International power forward Arturas Gudaitis (211-93) contributed with 9 points and 9 rebounds for the winners. Forward Justas Sinica (203-85) answered with 23 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for Nevezis. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lietuvos rytas is looking forward to face P.Zvaigzdes (#8) in Pasvalys in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Nevezis will play on the road against Lietkabelis in Panevezys and is hoping to prove to their supporters that the loss was just an accident. Another exciting game for Dzukija (1-0) which played on the court of Siauliai (0-1). Dzukija won 82-78. Forward Paulius Morkeliunas (202-85, college: LIU Brooklyn, agency: Octagon Europe) stepped up and scored 19 points and 4 assists for the winners and Karolis Guscikas chipped in 16 points and 9 rebounds. At the losing side American point guard Devin Patterson (180-92, college: Omaha, agency: Octagon Europe) responded with 18 points. Dzukija will play against Vytautas (#5) in Prienai in the next round. Siauliai will have a break next round. A very close game took place in Klaipeda between Vytautas and Neptunas. Vytautas (1-0) got a very close victory on the road over Neptunas (0-1). Vytautas managed to escape with a 3-point win 79-76 on Wednesday evening. Tomas Delininkaitis nailed 18 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his eight free throws) for the winning side. Vytautas’ coach Virginijus Seskus used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Jimmy Baron came up with 21 points and 5 rebounds for Neptunas in the defeat. Vytautas will meet at home Dzukija in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Neptunas will have a break next round. In the last two games of round 1 Zalgiris lost to Lietkabelis on the road 86-90. Juventus won against P.Zvaigzdes on its own court 97-92.
