Mariners disappointed in Clevenger for tweets

MINNEAPOLIS — The Mariners issued a statement expressing their disappointment following a series of racially charged tweets by catcher Steve Clevenger on Thursday.
Clevenger, who is on the 60-day disabled list recovering from a broken hand and elbow injury, tweeted several offensive remarks regarding the Black Lives Matter movement and the protests and unrest following the shootings of two black men by police officers in Charlotte, N.C., and Tulsa, Okla., in recent days.
General manager Jerry Dipoto released the following statement:
