Sanchez fastest to 18 career home runs

ST. PETERSBURG — For the second time in as many nights, the Rays opted to pitch to Gary Sanchez with first base open. The Yankees’ rookie sensation responded with the same result: a long three-run homer.
Sanchez became the fastest player in Major League history to hit 18 home runs, launching a blast inside the left-field foul pole off Alex Cobb that gave the Yankees a 6-0 lead on Wednesday evening.
