Rays bringing up Querecuto for infield depth

ST. PETERSBURG — The Rays will select infielder Juniel Querecuto’s contract on Thursday to add infield depth for the remainder of the season.
To make room on the 40-man roster, Steven Souza Jr. was placed on the 60-day disabled list. Souza was scheduled to have left hip surgery on Wednesday.
Given that the Rays had other infield options, specifically, Tim Beckham and Taylor Motter, who were both with the club this season, manager Kevin Cash was asked why they chose Querecuto.
