Poch hopes goal lifts Janssen

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino hopes Vincent Janssen will take confidence from scoring his first goal for the club in the 5-0 EFL Cup win over Gillingham on Wednesday.
Janssen opened his account from the penalty spot at White Hart Lane after Christian Eriksen’s double had earlier put Spurs in control.
Josh Onomah added a fourth with his first senior goal and Erik Lamela completed the rout as Pochettino’s side booked a fourth-round clash with Liverpool.
Harry Kane’s ankle injury means Janssen is set for an extended run in the first team and the 22-year-old showed courage to take the second-half spot-kick, before sliding it into the corner.
