I do: Plutko called up while at friend’s wedding

CLEVELAND — With his baseball season complete, it was wedding season for Adam Plutko. The Indians pitcher was in California, standing up in the wedding of one of his friends, expecting the only celebration to be about the couple’s big day.
Then, the Indians called.
“I couldn’t take the phone call right away, put it through to voicemail,” Plutko said. “They had literally just got done saying, ‘I do,’ and taking pictures and everything.”
Plutko’s friends will never forget their wedding day, and neither will he. That was when he got the call to the Major Leagues in an unexpected and unique fashion. Having wrapped up his season with Triple-A Columbus, Plutko was not anticipating a trip to the big leagues. Cleveland had already gone through a wave of September promotions, and Plutko had headed home to Dallas.
Things changed for the Tribe on Saturday.
