Montgomery lifts RailRiders to first Triple-A National Championship

Scranton/Wilkes-Barre won plenty of games this season, but it was the 98th victory that officially gave them the title of champions.
The RailRiders captured their first national championship with a 3-1 win over El Paso in the 2016 Gildan Triple-A National Championship Game at AutoZone Park on Tuesday night in Memphis, Tenn.
“Great year, we went through a lot of stuff,” Scranton/Wilkes-Barre manager Al Pedrique said on the broadcast after the win. “This is a normal Triple-A team, but we never gave up. We lost some key players and the team did a great job [to] keep playing. They believed in themselves.”
