Real Madrid Transfer News: Latest Rumours on Sergio Ramos and Thibaut Courtois
- Updated: September 20, 2016
Manchester United will once again move for Real Madrid captain Sergio Ramos and are preparing a “huge offer” for the Spain international.
According to Italian outlet Calcio Mercato (h/t Jack Otway of the Express), former Los Blancos manager Jose Mourinho is willing to part with £42 million to capture his former defender. United chased the star player 12 months ago, but Ramos opted to stay at the Bernabeu.
The transfer would see Ramos become the third-most expensive defender of all time behind David Luiz of Chelsea and Manchester City starlet John Stones, according to Otway.
Despite the fresh rumours, Ramos and Mourinho have previously “clashed” when the coach was in charge in the Spanish capital. The 30-year-old defender was disappointed at the treatment of legendary goalkeeper Iker Casillas in 2013, which eventually saw the self-proclaimed Special One depart Real in 2013, per Otway.
Ramos won his second UEFA Champions League trophy last season as the Galacticos collected their 11th European Cup.
