Here are three interesting items from around the big leagues on Monday …
• Rick Porcello went the distance on a four-hitter (seven strikeouts, no walks) and improved to 21-4 in Boston’s 5-2 win over the Orioles. In addition to leading the American League with 21 wins, Porcello also paces the AL with a 0.978 WHIP and a 6.00 strikeout-to-walk ratio. His 21 wins are the most for a Red Sox pitcher since Curt Schilling had 21 in 2004. Porcello could be the first Boston pitcher to lead the AL in wins since Josh Beckett (20) in ’07. Porcello’s 89 pitches vs. Baltimore were the fewest for a nine-inning complete game this season, and the …
