Hungary unbeatable at the Canoe Marathon World Championships

Brandenburg (18/09/2016) – The 2016 ICF Canoe Marathon World Championships in Brandenburg, Germany, concluded with astonishing dominance of Hungarian paddlers. Representatives of this European nation, who dominated this year’s ECA Canoe Marathon Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, early in July too, won amazing 27 medals, 14 of them gold, 8 silver and 5 bronze medals.

 

The legend of this sport Renáta Csay won two gold medals in Brandenburg. She won World Champion title both in women’s K1 and K2 together with Alexandra Barra. These were her 17th and 18th medals at Canoe Marathon World Championships since she won her first medal in 1999.Hungary won 27 out of 34 possible medals (with two boats allowed to start in each race per nation), but the representatives of other European nations were also among the best.
