Conlan, Barnes sign pro deals

Michael Conlan and Paddy Barnes have signed professional deals after their respective disappointments at the Olympic Games.
Belfast bantamweight Conlan was knocked out in the quarter-finals in Rio, losing a 3-0 decision to Russia’s Vladimir Nikitin in a decision that left many experts scratching their heads.
Conlan, a flyweight bronze medallist at London 2012, said in a furious interview after the defeat that he would never fight in an International Boxing Association (AIBA) fight again.
