Frustrated Fister battling but not getting results

SEATTLE — Astros pitcher Doug Fister wasn’t in the mood to dive too deeply into what has caused his season to go awry following Sunday’s 7-3 loss to the Mariners, but the second-half struggles of the veteran starter have weakened a rotation already without injured front-line arms Dallas Keuchel and Lance McCullers.
Fister dropped his fourth consecutive decision when he was rocked for seven runs and eight hits in 3 2/3 innings against Seattle. In his last five starts, he’s 0-4 with a 10.71 ERA with 40 hits allowed in 21 innings. Opponents are hitting a whopping .404 against him in that span.
“You try and compartmentalize a little bit and kind of break things down, game by game, pitch by pitch,” Fister said. “Obviously, it’s a frustrating thing to not get your job done and not help the team put up the victory.”
