Real Madrid beat Espanyol 2-0 on Sunday to continue their perfect run in LaLiga and set a new club record for consecutive wins. 

ESPN FC’s Dermot Corrigan confirmed Los Blancos grabbed their 16th straight win in the Spanish top division:

James Rodriguez and Karim Benzema scored the goals for Real, who were far from their best against a tricky Espanyol side. Real used their individual quality to decide the match with two flashes.

First, Rodriguez slid past two defenders and unleashed a great shot from long range to beat goalkeeper Diego Lopez just before half-time. Team-mate Gareth Bale was impressed:
