Kerdiles, Nattinen Score for Ducks in 3-2 Loss to Avs in Rookie Showcase

Anaheim’s prospect pool was on display this afternoon in the first of two Rookie Showcase games the club is playing in Westminster, Colorado. Today, the Ducks prospects took on the host club, the Colorado Avalanche, in a spirited contest that featured some of the top players in the farm system for both sides.Photo Gallery
In the end, however, it was Colorado that came out on top, a 3-2 final in front of a packed house at the Ice Centre at the Promenade. Nicolas Kerdiles and Julius Nattinen scored for Anaheim, while Kevin Boyle stopped 24 of 27 shots in the loss. Nattinen led the Ducks with a goal and an assist, while defenseman Cody Corbett paced the Avs with two points (assists).
“We did a lot of things good, but you could tell we were a step behind,” said defenseman Jaycob Megna, who wore the ‘C’ for the Ducks. “They played yesterday, and I think that showed. We dipped our toes in the water, but they were ready to go off the hop. They did a really good job closing lanes and blocking shots. We started slow, but I thought we played better as the game went on.”
Kerdiles opened the scoring just 1:34 into the first period with assists from fellow second-rounders Nattinen and Nick Sorensen.
