TRAVERSE CITY – So far, it has been a tale of two games for the Blue Jackets rookies.
They were not sharp on Friday night against Detroit. They turned the puck over too often, took ill-advised penalties and fell behind early. On Saturday night, they were the team dictating and it resulted in a much-needed win.
Like every team in their division, the Blue Jackets are 1-1-0 headed into Monday’s final preliminary round game. A win over the Chicago Blackhawks prospects puts them in good position, but they may need some help; goal differential is important and head-to-head also matters, so we may not know whether a three-peat is in the offing until late Monday.
Captain Zach Werenski wasn’t too concerned after Friday’s game and knew his team would respond with a better performance on Saturday.
