DENVER — Rockies right-hander Jon Gray was going to live by the “K” in Saturday night’s second inning — no matter how many he needed.
Gray struck out all four batters he faced in the second at Coors Field. Ryan Schimpf went down swinging. Then he got a third strike past Jon Jay, but the pitch ticked off the top of catcher Tom Murphy’s glove for a passed ball that let Jay reach first base.
