A late Lukas Jutkiewicz header earned Birmingham all three points over Sheffield Wednesday in a hard-fought encounter in the Saturday evening Championship game at St Andrews.
A tight and tense affair exploded into life in the final 15 minutes when substitute Gary Hooper found the back of the net for the visitors after terrific work by Steven Fletcher to provide the assist with a back-heel.
But Keiren Westwood’s rash foul on Clayton Donaldson gave Birmingham a chance to pull level moments later from the spot, with Donaldson slotting his spot-kick straight down the middle.
