Thrice as nice: RockHounds finish Texas League three-peat

It’s a three-peat for the Double-A Midland RockHounds.
The RockHounds claimed their third straight Texas League title on Friday night when they defeated Northwest Arkansas, 4-1, at Security Bank Ballpark in Game 4 of the best-of-five series. In doing so, Midland becomes the first team to win three consecutive championships since the Fort Worth Panthers won five in a row from 1920 to 1925.
It didn’t take Midland long to put runs on the board, as first baseman Viosergy Rosa opened the scoring with a solo home run in the bottom of the second. The RockHounds would then tack on two more runs before the end of the frame, both coming with two outs, with center fielder Brett Vertigan and second baseman Max Schrock both delivering RBI knocks.
In the fifth, outfielder Tyler Marincov connected on a solo home run, his first of the postseason, to extend Midland’s lead to 4-0.
