Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola revealed that David Silva is unlikely to be available for the Sky Blues’ Saturday clash with Bournemouth because of injury, but he was quick to make assurances it was not a major problem.
City will be looking to make it five wins from five in the 2016-17 Premier League campaign when they host Bournemouth, but they are seemingly set to be without their diminutive playmaker.
Silva was replaced in the squad for Wednesday’s delayed UEFA Champions League clash with Borussia Monchengladbach, and Guardiola said his compatriot picked up a problem in the last few days, per the Manchester Evening News: “I think tomorrow he won’t be able [to play]. I didn’t see the doctor and David. I think it’s not a big, big problem, but it happened just two days ago.”
Silva was masterful as City beat neighbours Manchester United last time out in the Premier League, per the New York Times’ Rory Smith:
