Ramirez tossed in benches-clearing incident

ATLANTA — Benches cleared during the seventh inning of Wednesday night’s game between the Braves and Marlins, after Atlanta reliever Jose Ramirez threw a pitch high and tight to Miami’s starting pitcher Jose Fernandez.
As Fernandez rose from the ground, brushed himself off and attempted to move toward the mound both benches and bullpens cleared. The players formed a scrum to the right side of the plate, but no punches were thrown.
There was no indications warnings had been previously issued, but Ramirez was the only player ejected. First-base coach Eddie Perez was among the many Braves seen yelling at Fernandez, who hit Nick Markakis with a pitch with two outs and none on in the sixth.
