Pirates to open ’17 season vs. Sox at Fenway

PHILADELPHIA — The Pirates’ 2017 season will begin April 3 against the Red Sox at Fenway Park, the Bucs’ first trip to the historic Boston ballpark since 2005.
Major League Baseball announced next year’s full regular-season schedule on Wednesday. For the Pirates, it starts with their fifth-ever series against the Red Sox, a three-game set from April 3-6. The Bucs last played the Sox in 2014 at PNC Park. The Pirates are 7-5 all-time against the Red Sox.
The Bucs’ home opener is set for Friday, April 7 against the Braves. It will be Pittsburgh’s first home opener against Atlanta since 1998.
