Liverpool Transfer News: Reds Are Biggest-Selling Club Since 2010, Top Rumours
- Updated: September 15, 2016
Liverpool are Europe’s biggest-selling club since 2010, profiting to the tune of £374 million during the six-year period.
According to a recent report by CIES Football Observatory (via FourFourTwo), the Reds have accrued the incredible sum of money after a number of exceptional transfers.
The sales of Luis Suarez, Fernando Torres and Raheem Sterling have swelled the bank balance at Anfield, and the exits of Andy Carroll and Christian Benteke have further increased that.
La Liga outfit Valencia are second behind Liverpool in the latest CIES statistics and are £8 million shy of the Reds’ total sales, per Football Observatory. Liverpool’s gross spend on players in the same period was £561 million, as the club’s owners made a significant investment in the squad.
The Reds are placed sixth in the biggest spenders in Europe’s top five leagues, above Real Madrid and Juventus, but trailing behind Premier League rivals Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United.
Lega Serie A shared the CIES rankings of the biggest spenders in Europe:
