Mariners deal Wieland to Braves for cash

ANAHEIM — Joe Wieland, a right-handed pitcher who started one game for the Mariners this season, was traded to the Braves on Wednesday for cash.
The 26-year-old pitched well for Triple-A Tacoma, posting a 14-6 record and a 5.43 ERA with 118 strikeouts and 39 walks in 124 1/3 innings over 26 appearances (24 starts). He tied for first in the Pacific Coast League in wins and was ninth in strikeouts.
