Gennady Golovkin was ahead on none of the scorecards prior to TKOing Kell Brook

A peak at the scorecards is not usually something required for a Gennady Golovkin (36-0, 33 KOs) fight, as he hasn’t gone to a decision since an eight-round fight in June 2008. While GGG got the 5th round corner stoppage win over Kell Brook (36-1, 25 KOs) in last Saturday’s highly entertaining HBO Boxing main event in London, it was a very competitive bout between the reigning #1 middleweight and the IBF welterweight champion. In the post-fight interview, promoter Eddie Hearn said that Brook was winning on the scorecards, which certainly came as a surprise.
We now know (through Hearn) how the three judges saw the fight after four rounds, and while Brook wasn’t actually winning, nobody had GGG ahead 1/3rd of the way …
