Donaldson out 1 game with undisclosed injury

TORONTO — Josh Donaldson was held out of the Blue Jays’ lineup in the series opener vs. Tampa Bay on Monday night because of an undisclosed injury.
Blue Jays manager John Gibbons said that Donaldson is a little “beat up,” but he declined to get into specifics about what the injury might be. The absence is expected to last one game, and Donaldson should be back in the lineup Tuesday night.
Donaldson is mired in an 0-for-23 slump, which is his longest hitless streak during two years with Toronto. He has dealt with several nagging injuries throughout the season, but he has played in all but five of the 143 games.
“He’s beat up,” Gibbons told reporters Monday afternoon. “His body is banged up. Let him regroup, rest up. He’s hurting.”
